Family law, from judicial separations to divorces, consists of many different components. Counselling in this field depends very much on the situation and needs of the client. It can range from a pre-marital (e.g. a marriage contract) to a post-separation or post-divorce consultation (e.g. the inforcement or adjustment of a divorce agreement or a divorce decree). As a rule in a divorce case the following areas will have to be considered:
  • the implications of a divorce as such
  • the adjustment of social security and pension rights of the spouses
  • the property settlement, particularly for enterpreneurs
  • the distribution of common household goods
  • the disposition of the marital home
  • alimony and child support during the separation and after the divorce
  • child custody and visitation rights
